Classroom Visitors

Today, we have some parents of former students offer to come in to share their pets with our class. Here is what they brought in...

Sure, we had some gentle screaming but overall, the kids were pretty impressed with both animals!

ILLNESS!

Today as I was getting ready to take attendance and lunch count, I noticed that we were missing quite a few kiddos from our class. I checked in the cafeteria to see if they were still eating...nope. I checked to see if they were on the same bus and the bus may have been late...nope. We come to find out that 6 kids were out with the stomach bug today! I spent a lot of the day deep cleaning and we all spent a lot of time washing our hands!
Here is what a line of 12 kids looks like!

Valentine's Day

It's never too early to talk about Valentine's Day! You should have received information this week about Valentine Cards.
Here is how you use the grid. Cut out the squares. Tape them to each Valentine card, candy or whatever your child is bringing. When they are brought back to school, all your child needs to do is to match up the numbers on the card to the numbers on the Valentine Bags and it will make the delivery process much easier! Please make sure that your child signs his/her name to each Valentine, too.

Tumbling

I was a few moments early to pick up the kids from PE today so I took some photos of them tumbling!

End of Quarter 2 Assembly

On Thursday, we had the end of Quarter 2 Assembly. Students who had perfect attendance for the quarter were recognized along with students who met AR goals. Since we don't use AR in kindergarten, we recognized the kindergarten class for all the Backpack Books that have been read along with all the RAZ Kids books that have been read. Do you know that they read almost 400 books on Raz Kids since we started? Isn't that impressive? We got to go into the computer lab today so I'm sure that we are way over that mark already!
Waiting for the assembly to begin!

Mrs. OL sharing the Raz Kids total to the whole school!

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

Okay...bless the movie Frozen! This week the students, for whatever reason, have frequently broken into song "Do you want to build a snowman? Or ride our bikes around the hall?" Maybe it had something to do with painting snowmen this week. When you come to conferences, please check them out. They are absolutely ADORABLE!

Rollerskating!

Today was the last day of rollerskating. Check out some of the action photos. The kiddos got to skate with music and disco lights. At the end, they got to dance and run with the family lights on. It was the highlight of the day!
Photos were taken while I was on skates...my one and only time a year that I skate (and pray that I don't fall down and break anything!). It takes me back to my junior high years skating at Skateland in Brooklyn Park!

Dancing and running at the end!

Snowmen at Night

We have spent these past few days reading many different winter/snowmen books. Thank you to everyone who helped make a snowman at night to bring to school. Check out the beginning of our display! Everyone LOVES stopping by to check it out!

Martin Luther King, Jr.

In Social Studies this week, we have been learning about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We read the following book...

We also completed a weekly reader and are currently working through a small book on his life.
In preparation for this topic, we read the following book...
This was about a crayon box that did not get along. We then made ourselves into crayons!
This is hanging in our hall by the ramp coming down to our room. Check it out when you are in school next time!

Here we are creating our crayons.
