Arboretum Fieldtrip

On a cold and rainy day, our bus headed to the Arboretum. We were thankful that we had our learning experience inside but were bummed that we didn't get to explore some of the amazing grounds due to the rain!
Watching the puppet show at the beginning!

Letting ladybugs free in the greenhouse so that they can eat aphids (which are bad for the plants). We also got time to explore in there. There were some amazing looking plants!

Going on a nature walk (in the drizzle) to look for signs of birds - where they live, how they get water, where they find shelter.

 Planting!

Eating lunch in the shelter on the grounds!

Teacher of the Day...Part 2

 Learning how to draw people!
Learning how to make a paper and pipe cleaner flower!
Learning how to match and fold socks!
Learning how to make paper sleeping bags!

Trip to the Winsted Library

We walked in the drizzle to the Winsted Library. Once there, our time was filled with a lot of fun activities!
Running around the stacks of books!

Playing a game of Simon Says while we are waiting to begin!
Checking out the books for kids!

 Decorating book marks!

Listening to a story!

Grandparent's Day!

We have about 30 grandparents who are joining us today for Grandparent's Day. They got to have snack with us, help fill in an interview sheet, go to music and PE with the kids and then played outside. I don't have permission to show photos but it's quite the sight! Below are the kiddos drawing pictures of their grandparents on table runners that we made for the snack tables.

Teacher of the Day!

My students are so smart that they now get to teach the class! We have had 4 teachers of the day so far and more to come...
Learning how to tie shoes.
Learning how to make paper kites.
Learning how to make paper airplanes.
Learning how to make peanut butter sandwiches.

All School Fieldtrip

Last week, we took our All School Fieldtrip to Stages Theater in Hopkins. We saw the play One Dog Canoe - which was excellent and then ate a picnic lunch. It was a wonderful day!
The stage...before they asked us to put our cameras away.
Part of the music...this man played some music before the performance and then throughout the performance, too!
Our picnic lunch...followed by a crazy game of Duck, Duck, Goose!

Earth Day!

In honor of Earth Day, we ate dirt...with some very slimy worms!
