Kinderbuddies!

Today we met our 4th grade kinderbuddies for the first time! The big kids came down to our rooms to do a little Getting to Know You activity. It was a great time! We'll meet with them monthly throughout the school year.

Happy Birthday Johnny Appleseed!

Today Johnny Appleseed came through Winsted and stopped to see us! We sang Happy Birthday to him and he talked about apples and planting trees. We also asked him a lot of questions like...
Where do you live?  Nowhere - he just keeps walking around from place to place.
Why do you have a pan on your head? To cook with and to use as a hat to protect his head.
Where does he sleep? On the ground - sometimes on dirt and sometimes on rocks.
What is his favorite color apple? Red.
Where does he go when it's cold? He heads south to place like Florida or Texas.
It was a great visit!

We wore pots on our heads just like Johnny Appleseeed. Though as one student pointed out...ours are only made of paper;)
Waiting for Johnny Appleseed to show up!

 Here he comes!

 Talking with Mr. Appleseed.

 A group photo!

We also read the book 10 Apples Up on Top and created ourselves with 10 Apples Up on Top of us!

We did an apple experiment today to predict if apples float or sink in water.

We then checked to see if our predictions came true!

Taste testing red, green and yellow apples that Johnny brought us for snack!

Mrs. Heuer's class graph for Which Color is our Favorite to eat? Green was the most popular...
In Mrs. Zimmermann's class, red was the most popular!
