Hanukkah

Today we flew to Israel (and actually, we forgot to fly back home - oops!). We learned about the Menorah, the Star of David and ate Latkes and Applesauce for snack.
On our Flight...

Let me just apologize now for the glitter...Sorry!
But the craft for the day turned out AWESOME!

No grating potatoes here! We used a mix for our Potato Pancakes (Latkes)
 Frying up in a pan!

 Trying them out with applesauce!

Reindeer!

This week, in honor of the letter Rr, we are doing multiple activities with reindeer. We have created reindeer paintings that are hanging in the hallway, have made reindeer using our footprint and hand prints. We will be learning about reindeer by making a reindeer book and we'll also be sending home some reindeer food to sprinkle on your lawn on Christmas Eve for the real reindeer:)
Aren't they adorable???

Nighttime - S'mores!

For the letter Nn, we also had our nighttime party. For snack, Mrs. OL's class came over for S'mores. Here are some of our friends enjoying the tasty treats! Sorry if anyone was sent home with chocolate still on their faces!

St. Nicholas Day!

We learned that children in The Netherlands put their shoes by the window hoping to get treats from St. Nicholas. If they are good, St. Nicholas will leave them candy. If they are not good, he will leave them coal, potatoes and onions!
We put straw and a carrot in our shoe for St. Nicholas' horse!
 Here they are...shoes waiting patiently...
When we went back in the hall, we found candy! All of us! No onions and coal for us!
We were all amazed as we didn't hear anything but some kids did think they found his footprints in the snow when they searched during recess!

Our First Flight

Today we flew to The Netherlands. Here we are on the airplane!
Our Pilot, Mrs. OL talking about the flight.
The passengers, holding their suitcases and passports, ready for take off!
Waiting to start the plane!

Grocery Store

We are happy to announce that there is a new grocery store in town! Winsted Grocery Store opened up in our kindergarten classroom this Monday and it was a popular destination! Some children get to work as cashiers, some as stock people/store workers, some get to bag groceries and some get to shop. Thank you to everyone who donated food to help us stock our shelves. At the end of the month, all food will be donated to the local food shelf.

Introducing Silver Spurs!

On Monday, our classroom Elf on the Shelf named Silver Spurs, returned to kindergarten. We found him the first day on a shelf in the back of the room. The next day, he had moved to the top of our Smartboard! Ask your child where he has shown up each day!
