Kinderbuddies

We met our kinderbuddies today to write spring addition stories. We'll be making the addition problems into a class book. It was a lot of fun!

Read to Self

Do you know that we are trying to build our stamina for reading up to 20 minutes this year in kindergarten? Each child has his/her own book box filled with 12 books (which are changed from week to week). When reading, we know that there are 3 ways to read a book - read the words, read the pictures or make up a story. We recently read for a whopping 10 minutes in our classroom without interruption. Pretty impressive! Check out the photos below of kids reading!

Robins

We have spent some time in the past couple of weeks talking about spring. So, we made Robins to hang in our classroom. And, not just any robins...but robins that are eating worms! The kids got to eat part of the worm before they attached it to the robin. YUMMY!

 Aren't they great?!?

Rhyming

Rhyming is a kindergarten skill that we hope that everyone masters by the end of the school year. Most kids are already there! To review one last time, we read the book Rhyming Dust Bunnies by Jan Thomas (hysterical!). We then made our own rhyming dust bunnies with your help with the rhyming sheets that the students brought home for homework last week. Thank you!

 Working hard...

 Aren't they adorable?!?

Good-Bye Computer Lab

Today we headed to the computer lab for our last time in weeks. The computer lab is going to be taken over by testing so time will be limited to access it. Here we are working on Raz-Kids! Remember that your child can access this program at home, too!

Art via Pinterest!

Do you Pinterest? I found this amazing art project to do with the students on Pinterest. I know that sometimes projects don't turn out but this one was INCREDIBLE! Check it out below...

First we put tissue paper down on white construction paper and 'painted' over it with water!

When dried, we peeled off the tissue paper and the paper looked just like we had painted it!

Next, we drew ourselves using only black markers!
 And cut them out...
And Wahoo! Here is our finished product. Aren't they super cute?

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

It has been a busy day! We got to school to find our classroom locked and a mess made by a pesky leprechaun named Patrick! We spent the day making St. Patrick Day headbands, reading books and making fun leprechauns for a craft. What a day!
Look at this mess we found this morning!

There were footprints all over the room! Even in the bathroom!
 Making Leprechauns!

 Aren't they adorable?!?

Patrick the Leprechaun left us treats for our snack. It helps make up for the mess he made!

 Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here is the note the leprechaun left us. Kind of sloppy writing!
