Happy Hanukkah!

Even though Hanukkah does not officially start until the evening of December 24th, we celebrated here in kindergarten today. We got on our plane with our suitcases and passports and headed to Israel. We made Star of David ornaments (sorry about the glitter!), learned about dreidels and menorahs, did a challenging dot-to-dot to create a menorah and ate Latkes and Applesauce for snack. Whew! What a day!

Holidays Around the World - St. Nicholas Day!

Today we started out our morning by flying to the Netherlands. It was a very quick flight (we have a fast plane!). Once we got there and got our passports stamped by passport control, we took off one of our shoes, added some straw and carrots in it for St. Nicholas's horse to eat and put it by the door in hopes that St. Nicholas and his horse may come by. We learned that that if you are good, he would leave you treats. If you are not so good, he would leave you potatoes and onions! We thought we heard a horse in the school (weird, I know...) and when we went to look at our shoes, we all had treats in them! Yummy!

Bear Day!

Today we celebrated Bear Day for the letter B! We made bread dough bears, made butter, played guess the bear and did the action song Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear Turn Around. We also said good-bye to Mrs. Kaeter today!

Star Test

Yesterday, we took our second Early Literacy Star Test of the school year. We'll take it again at the end of December. It went much more smoothly this time than it did when we took it the third week of school:)
