Our third stop on our trip around the world was to Sweden to learn about St. Lucia Day. We learned that St. Lucia wore a white dress with a red sash and wore candles on the head. We also learned that it's dark for most of the day in Sweden in winter, that is why she wore candles on her head. The oldest girl in the family would dress up as St. Lucia and deliver breakfast to her family - lucia katts! We made our own lucia katts with bread dough and chocolate chips! The girls also created their own headband wreath with candles and the boys created Star Boy Hats! It was a full day of fun!

Holidays Around the World - St. Nicholas Day!
Today we started our journey around the world to learn about different Christmas customs. Our first stop...The Netherlands to learn about St. Nicholas Day! We put our shoes by the door and filled them with hay and a carrot for St. Nicholas' horse. After our flight to The Netherlands (complete with our suitcases, passports and maps), we checked our shoes and found candy in them! That means we are all nice boys and girls! If we were naughty, he would have left us potatoes and onions!
What a fun day!
Straw and a carrot in our shoes to put by the door!
Leaving our shoes...
Flying on our plane to The Netherlands.
After...our shoes filled with candy!

R is for Reindeer!
Today we started our Kinderliteracy unit on Reindeer. What better way to start off the week? Turning the students into Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.
Aren't they adorable?

Painting Feet!
If your child came home today with a little paint on his/her feet...you can blame me! We are having a little door decorating contest at school and we have decided to decorate our door with snowmen...made out of feet! While Ms. Trisha and Ms. Edgington painted, I washed feet:)
Kind of like a spa treatment!😉
We'll decorate them next week and get them on our door!
Kind of like a spa treatment!😉
