We finally got to celebrate Valentine's Day today! After passing out our Valentine cards earlier this week, we have painfully been looking at our boxes daily waiting to open them up! What a fun day!

Last official handwriting practice sheet!
As we started off this school year - not knowing if we would stay in person, go to hybrid or go to distance learning, I was just thankful for every day that I had my kiddos here at school. We just kept our steady rhythm of working through our kindergarten curriculum while still adding in as many fun days as we could include. With all of our hard work and persistence, we officially finished our kindergarten handwriting curriculum today! This means that we are going to move on to Star Journals and keep working in our kinderwriting journals.
These kindergarten students are rockin' it this year and I'm so proud of them!
Check out the students with their last official handwriting papers!

Short Vowel Review!
We have completed our second round of reviewing letters and letter sounds. We're now reviewing short vowel sounds. Today we practiced writing CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) short i words on our white boards.

Martin Luther King, Jr.
This week we are learning about diversity along with learning about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (a little late but we got there:)
We have been talking that it doesn't matter what color skin we have, what matters is what we have on the inside - are we showing kindness to everyone? Are we being fair to everyone?
Today we did a little experiment. We looked at the outside of 2 eggs - a brown one and a white one. They both looked different on the outside. We then cracked both of them open and found out that on the inside, they looked the same - kind of like people! It was a super easy little experiment that created some great conversation!

Raz Kids
Today we had Mrs. Struthers help us all log on to Raz Kids at the same time on our new touchscreen Chromebooks! Raz Kids is an on-line reading program that our students are able to use. Passwords to get on to the website will be sent home at conferences!
