Handwriting

Handwriting is part of our day - every day! We use a program called EZ Write. We have just finished going through all the beginning strokes that we'll need to know to make all of the letters and numbers. Today we started working our way through numbers, starting with the number 2. We'll continue to work on number writing throughout this week and next week and then we'll do a switch to upper and lowercase letters! Please practice good handwriting skills at home - sitting up straight in your chair, feet in front of you, pinch your pencil, try your best! You'll also notice that we sometimes may highlight letters or numbers for students so that they get more practice of making it the correct way.

Cutting Practice and Playing!

The first week of school, we spent a lot of time on learning how to correctly (and incorrectly:) use our scissors. We practiced cutting different kinds of lines - straight, curvy, zig zag. Does your child have a pair of scissors at home? If not, this is a good time to get some and practice cutting.

You'll also find a couple photos from free time. We have been exploring the new toys in our classroom and learning how to play with new friends!
