On Tuesday, we flew to Israel to learn about the winter celebration of Hanukkah. After our flight, we made a Star of David (sorry about the glitter:) and then read stories and learned about Hanukkah. For our afternoon snack, we made and ate latkes (potato pancakes) and applesauce! On Friday, we are heading to Sweden.
Today was a busy day in kindergarten! With bears and other stuffed animals joining us it made for a lot of activity! We started off our day making bread dough bears. We then played a guessing game with the bear descriptions you returned to school to guess which animal we were talking about. It was then on to make homemade butter for our bread dough bears. We read some stories and did some actions with our bears, too! This afternoon, we ate our bread dough bears for snack along with the butter. What could be better?!?
Today we took our unit 5 math test on numbers 6 - 10. Next week we'll start our unit on comparing numbers. Also, we finished our formal instruction on lowercase letter writing in handwriting. We'll be moving on to learning how to write numbers the school way!
Mrs. Adickes, our school social worker, came to our class this morning for a short lesson on social skills. She'll be visiting us about 2x a month throughout the school year to work on social skills. Today she read a story about feelings to us!
Today was the day!!! We started our journey around the world to learn about different holidays! Our flight today was to The Netherlands to learn about St. Nicholas. We got our suitcases ready with our maps and passports and headed to the airport for our flight! Our captain was quite an amazing pilot and we had some pretty incredible flight attendants, too! 
Yesterday, Ms. Peg came to read the book Silver Spurs to our class. It is about one of Santa's Elves. Well, as luck would have it, Silver Spurs showed up in our classroom today with a note! Check it out below!
