We learned that children in The Netherlands put their shoes by the window hoping to get treats from St. Nicholas. If they are good, St. Nicholas will leave them candy. If they are not good, he will leave them coal, potatoes and onions!
We were all amazed as we didn't hear anything but some kids did think they found his footprints in the snow when they searched during recess!
