P is for Pickle Day!

What better way to celebrate the letter Pp than to have Pickle Day on school Picture Day! We read different pickle books (yes, there are pickle picture books out there!) and taste tested Dill Pickles, Sweet Gherkins, Bread and Butter Pickles and Dill flavored Potato Chips! 

It was a pleasing day:)

Applesauce!

We are continuing our mini unit on Apples! Today, the kids got to use our cool apple peeler to help make applesauce. We just put the cut up apples in a crock pot, added a little cinnamon and sugar and cooked it throughout the day. We graphed who liked it and who tried it but didn't really like it and more kids liked it! Something new to try!

 

Happy Birthday Johnny Appleseed!

On Sunday, it will be Johnny Appleseed's birthday. In honor of his birthday and our literature unit on Apples, Johnny Appleseed stopped by our school today. We sang Happy Birthday to him and he talked about planting apple trees, what his favorite apple is, why he doesn't wear shoes, why he wears a pot on his head and what he likes to make with apples. We also made paper pots to wear on our head just like Johnny does! Oh, he also gave us different colored apples to taste test for snack today!
