Today we started Backpack Books. Your child got an envelope with 2 papers in it. Keep the white reading log in the envelope at all times but please take out the colored sheet and keep it at home. When your child brings home a book, read it (this can be done by your child and/or with help), discuss the book, fill out the reading log with the book information and return it to school. Your child will return the book and get a new one. You should be sitting next to your child as s/he reads it - it is not something that is meant to be done independently. This is a way for you, as a family, to help your child start reading and to work on comprehension skills. It makes a big difference in their learning!

Here is our other new item for this quarter...homework! This just reviews what we are learning and doing in class and should not take longer than 10 minutes! Please place an "x" and put your initials after each day. Leave the sheet in your child's folder and I will take it out each Friday and put a new one in each Monday. Thank you for your support with this!
