Today we were lucky enough to get to go to the Winsted Fire Station (riding in one of their emergency vehicles!) to learn about fire safety. The students learned what to do if they found a lighter or matches (tell an adult), learned to not hide from fire fighters, learned about the equipment a fire fighter needs to stay safe (helmet, oxygen tank, etc.), got to see all the different vehicles the fire department uses, got to look at their classroom, learned how to stop, drop and roll and got two things to do at home for homework...find out how many smoke detectors are in their home and to find a meeting place outside in case there is ever a fire. They also gave us our own fire fighter helmet and bag full of cool things! It was an awesome experience! Thank you Winsted Fire Fighters!
