Apple Jack Apple Orchard

We normally head to Carlson's Apple Orchard in Winsted but they were not giving tours this year so we decided to head to Apple Jack Orchard in Delano.
Happy kids riding on the bus!

We got the back of the bus...it's a little bumpy!

This is Carol, the leader for field trips. She greeted us and told us what we would be learning today!
Our first stop was Bee School. We learned how bees help the apple trees!

A bee heading to check out the blossoms on the apple trees.

After the blossoms fall off of the apple tree, the apples start to grow!

We also learned how the apple pickers pick the apples off the tree in a safe way that won't hurt the trees or the apples and we got to see the special apple picking bags that they use.

Our 2nd stop...a wagon ride through the orchard. Our tractor driver talked the whole way through the ride but we had a hard time hearing him because of the loud noise of the tractor and the blowing wind! But, we all had a grand time!

Our last stop...we learned how apple trees change from season to season.

It was a little chilly and windy at our last stop!
We also got to taste test 2 different kinds of apples and...
We got to try apple cider.

After lunch, we got to spend a little time playing at the orchard!

What a cute photo!

Jumping on the hale bales.
The bus ride back to school.

We had a great time. It was cold and windy but we learned a lot and had a marvelous time!
