We have started Read to Self in our classroom. In teacher lingo, this is part of Daily 5, a program that gets kids reading and writing. During this time, the students get their own book boxes, find their quiet spot and start reading to themselves. Our kindergarten goal is to read to ourselves for 20 minutes by the time we get to the end of kindergarten. We just started this week and are up to 4 minutes...we'll slowly build up our time!
